Are you passionate about supporting students to succeed in higher education? Do you have expertise in mathematics and statistics, and the ability to make these subjects accessible, engaging and relevant to learners from a wide range of backgrounds?
Aston University is seeking an enthusiastic and student-focused colleague to join our Learning Services team within Library and Learning Services. Working as part of the Academic Skills and Mathematics Development team, you will provide high-quality mathematics and statistics support for undergraduate and postgraduate students, both pre- and post-entry to the University.
You will teach through a variety of formats, including one-to-one tutorials, small and large group teaching, online tutorials and virtual classrooms for off-campus learners. You will also work collaboratively with academic colleagues to embed mathematics support within Aston's taught programmes, helping students to develop the confidence, skills and understanding needed for academic progression and success.
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to an inclusive, innovative, and responsive learning support service. You will develop engaging learning resources, support Aston's omni-channel approach to delivery, and contribute to departmental and University strategic objectives around student experience, continuation and success.
We are looking for someone with experience of teaching learners in higher education, excellent communication skills, and a strong commitment to student partnership. Experience of developing or supporting Peer Assisted Learning (PAL) schemes would be an advantage. You will also bring enthusiasm for digital learning technologies and an interest in helping students develop the digital awareness and skills needed for learning and assessment.
Benefits include:
- Aston University is a dynamic and vibrant campus located within Birmingham city centre, with excellent transport links via bus or train.
- Excellent training and development opportunities.
- A generous annual leave scheme with 30 days bookable leave and a further 13 days bank holiday and University Closure days.
- Everyday discounts to a number of activities and retailers.
- Great family friendly policies.
- On site gym and pool with discounted staff membership available.
This role may meet the requirements for Skilled Worker visa sponsorship. If you require sponsorship, Aston University will assess eligibility if you are shortlisted for the role.
