The Department

Student Services is a large multi-disciplinary team that plays a crucial role in supporting our students. Student Money & Immigration Advice comprises advice on Student Finance, NHS Funding and US loans, UWL's internal Scholarships and Bursaries and Student visa and immigration advice in order to support international students. We are a hard-working yet sociable and close-knit team who help and support each other to provide a superlative student experience and aid student recruitment and retention.

The Role

The main purpose of this role is to work within a team to provide excellent customer service to students and staff and aid student recruitment and retention, with particular emphasis on the data extraction, manipulation, administration and payment of UWL Bursaries, Student Support funds and any other grant funding available to students for higher education students, and the administration of US loans. Duties also include frontline provision at our Student Services information desk by providing information to students and staff regarding the range of support provided by Student Services including advice, wellbeing (disability, mental health, counselling and welfare), in addition to signposting to the relevant units within the University for other services.

Whilst on a day-to-day basis the post holder may have certain duties allocated to them, they will be required in certain circumstances to undertake other duties to ensure a full administrative service is maintained in order to support the operation of Student Services, including assisting with the Student Services Front desk.

This appointment requires a flexible approach to working hours to successfully provide administrative support to Student Services at key pressure points during the academic year, as well as maintaining a presence at open days throughout the year. Occasional evening and weekend work is required.

The Person

We are seeking an enthusiastic and compassionate individual to join the Student Advice team. You will be self-motivated, proactive and extremely organised. Attention to detail and accuracy is of paramount importance in this role.

We are looking for someone who can work equally well as a team member and using their own initiative. You should have excellent interpersonal, communication and customer service skills and the ability to work closely with students and staff alike. Experience of working in higher education is essential together with a knowledge of UK student loans. The ability to work accurately under pressure is essential.
