Sign in Create an accountWe are seeking to appoint a Research Fellow for an industrial innovation project titled 'Hybrid Cyber Range for Cyber-Physical Energy Systems' led by Principal Investigator, Dr. Subhash Lakshminarayana.
You will join the dynamic team led by Dr Subhash Lakshminarayana, working on developing cyber-physical resilience enhancement algorithms, AI for power grid optimization and security, and prototype software for cyber-physical energy systems.
The overall goal of the project is to develop novel risk analysis and resilience enhancement methods for cyber-physical energy systems. Specifically, the project will formulate mathematical risk modelling and resilience metrics and translate these concepts into proof-of-concept software tools and algorithms. These implementations will be evaluated within a hybrid cyber range environment to validate mitigation strategies and strengthen energy infrastructure against evolving cyber threats.
You will undertake independent and collaborative research and will be expected to write up your research for publication.
You will be expected to deal with any management/administration problems that may arise from the project and produce and present regular project reports ensuring that the project objectives and deadlines are met.
This post is based at the University of Warwick in the Connected Systems Lab at the School of Engineering. The successful candidate will be required to make trips to the project partners, who are based across UK sites.
About You
You should have PhD-level training or strong/equivalent work experience at the intersection of cybersecurity and power grids and/or application of machine learning for power grids, and be able to integrate the machine learning backend of the intrusion detection system to real-world setups.
You will have excellent verbal and written communication skills that enable you to communicate clearly, work effectively with colleagues and external partners, and contribute positively to team and School activities.
Organised, self-motivated and technically adept, you use IT confidently to prepare papers, presentations and technical documentation. You manage your time well, engage constructively with the wider academic community, and bring an inclusive and professional approach to your work.
If you have not yet been awarded your PhD but are near submission or have recently submitted your PhD, any offers of employment will be made as Research Assistant on level 5 of the University grade structure. Upon successful award of your PhD and evidence of this fact, you will be promoted to Research Fellow on the first point of the level 6 of the University grade structure.
Benefits
We will provide you with a great range of benefits, which include an attractive pension scheme, a generous holiday allowance plus Christmas closure, excellent learning and development opportunities, and savings on a wide range of products and services. We offer a generous maternity/paternity/adoption/parental leave policy, and onsite childcare facilities. We recognise the importance of a healthy work/life balance and offer access to flexible working. We are proud to say that we are a Living Wage employer.
