The role is responsible for the provision of comprehensive administrative support to the degree apprenticeship programmes, supporting colleagues and students on their journey from recruitment through to graduation.

You will provide administrative support for our degree apprenticeship courses within the School of Engineering, and support administration as required for our undergraduate and PGT programmes.

As well as being the initial point of contact for student administration and undertaking routine tasks, you will contribute and assist with preparation for apprentices induction, enrolment, block teaching weeks, graduation, award ceremonies and other student events.

You will also undertake routine administrative tasks including booking rooms and refreshments, arranging meetings, carrying out filing and archiving, data inputting and data extraction from university databases, photocopying and the collation and distribution of documentation as required to support the administration of the School's degree apprenticeship programmes.

To support the School at student events there is a requirement for occasional weekend working. Given the nature of this role, there is an expectation that the postholder will work several days in the office; exact working arrangements will be discussed and agreed with the successful candidate.

A good general education to A Level standard or equivalent is required, along with experience of working in an administrative role, ideally within Higher Education, with an understanding of the priorities of the environment and the need to deliver excellent customer service.

Excellent communication skills are essential to provide accurate advice and guidance on administrative processes or policies. You will have experience of dealing with senior members of staff and must be trustworthy and discreet when dealing with confidential or sensitive matters.

You must be able to demonstrate excellent time management, organisation and judgement skills with the ability to deliver a varied workload to tight deadlines. You should be able to work independently as well as part of a team, and be resourceful, self-motivated and proactive with the ability to work on your own initiative to find solutions to problems.

Strong IT skills are required to manipulate and present data and keep accurate records.

Benefits include an attractive pension scheme with excellent employer contributions, a generous annual leave entitlement (26 days per annum plus four customary shut-down days over Christmas and eight statutory bank holidays), excellent learning and development opportunities, savings on a wide range of products and services, a generous maternity/paternity/adoption/parental leave policy, onsite childcare facilities, access to flexible working, and Living Wage employer status.
