Preston
Permanent
Full-time
£22,768–£26,104 / year
Closes 19 Oct 2026
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Estates Operations team as a Mailroom Driver. Working within the Mailroom and Logistics team, you will provide a professional and customer-focused service supporting the collection, sorting and delivery of mail, parcels and related goods across the University.
You will also support portering activities, furniture moves, office and departmental relocations across campus, ensuring teaching, learning and professional services areas are set up and moved safely and efficiently. The role plays an important part in delivering the University's wider logistics services that support students, staff and visitors.
A key part of the role involves the physical movement of furniture, equipment and other items across campus locations, so applicants should be comfortable undertaking manual handling activities as part of their day-to-day duties.
This is a varied and hands-on role requiring flexibility, reliability and a commitment to delivering excellent customer service. You will work closely with colleagues across the University, helping to ensure the smooth day-to-day operation of essential services.
About you:
You will have experience working within a mailroom, delivery, stores or similar operational environment and be able to demonstrate excellent customer service skills. You will have strong organisational skills, be able to follow procedures accurately, and work effectively as part of a team.
Applicants must hold a full driving licence with no more than three penalty points and no unspent disqualifications. You will possess good communication, literacy and numeracy skills, have an eye for detail, and be committed to maintaining high standards of service and professionalism. Experience of record keeping, scheduling work and dealing with customers will be advantageous.
What we can offer you:
We have a fantastic package of rewards and lifestyle benefits, from an attractive annual leave entitlement to access to a comprehensive employee benefits platform which includes a 24/7 online GP. Our people are our most important asset. We'll encourage you to make the most of your talents and continually develop your skills and knowledge.
