The Award-winning Natural Resources Institute (NRI) is an internationally renowned multi-disciplinary institute of the University of Greenwich, part of the London and South East University group. NRI undertakes research, consultancy and training to support sustainable development and food security in the UK and globally. We are a forward-thinking interdisciplinary community where world-changing ideas are inspired by excellence in teaching, research, and innovation to address environmental, social and economic challenges for a sustainable future. We are an established global leader collaborating with partners across sectors and disciplines to co-create environmental resilience, sustainable agriculture, health and food security. NRI works towards a just world free from disease, hunger, poverty and violence. Substantial research funding to the institute comes from the Gates Foundation, the McKnight Foundation, Darwin, UKRI, FCDO, and the EU.

Dependent on experience and qualifications, we are looking to recruit a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Geospatial Analysis and Environmental Modelling in the Ecosystem Services Group. The Ecosystem Services Group is part of the research centre for Sustainable Agriculture for One Health, and the Agriculture, Health and Environment Department.

Permanent full-time post holders are expected to develop their own independent research programme through winning research and enterprise funding from external sources. The post-holder will be expected to expand our research activities, publish outputs in reputable journals, and apply for innovative research funding.

The post-holder will also undertake teaching on our postgraduate programmes in Global Environmental Change and Sustainable Agriculture, and have the opportunity to contribute to teaching at undergraduate level.

On the 1 August 2026, the University of Greenwich and the University of Kent formed a pioneering new multi-university group called London and South-East (LASE) University Group. Should you join us, you will be employed by LASE but will work as part of the University of Greenwich academic division, contributing to its distinct strengths, community and identity while also being part of a wider group that brings together the scale, resilience and shared ambition of both universities.

We are committed to building a strong, diverse workforce that reflects the communities we serve. We particularly encourage applications from individuals from groups currently under-represented within the University of Greenwich at these levels/within these areas, including Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic, disabled and LGBT+ people. We are committed to promoting and supporting the physical and mental health of all our staff, and removing barriers to improve inclusion.
