As Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Early Years Education, you will help shape the delivery, development and strategic enhancement of Early Years Initial Teacher Education across our undergraduate and postgraduate provision. Drawing on your expertise in early childhood education from birth to five, you will design and deliver innovative, research-informed learning that prepares graduate practitioners and teachers to support children's learning, development and wellbeing. We are particularly interested in expertise relating to babies and toddlers aged 0-3.
You will contribute across areas including birth-to-three pedagogy, child development, communication and language, inclusion and SEND, family engagement, workforce development, and research or knowledge exchange in Early Years practice. Working collaboratively with Early Years settings, local authorities and sector organisations, you will strengthen partnerships and help advance high-quality provision regionally and nationally. You will also contribute to the Faculty's research, knowledge exchange and impact activity through the International Centre for Early Years Education.
At Senior Lecturer level, you will additionally provide leadership in curriculum delivery, quality enhancement, partnership working and the development of colleagues.
As Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Early Years Education, you will be an enthusiastic and collaborative educator with Qualified Teacher Status, a relevant honours degree and a PhD or equivalent professional achievement. You will bring strong knowledge of Early Years education, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and a clear commitment to an inclusive, high-quality student experience.
You will demonstrate the potential to be an effective research-informed teacher and assessor, with adaptable teaching skills, developing subject expertise and the ability to support students' diverse academic and personal needs. If appointed as Senior Lecturer, you will bring significant experience of innovative undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, well-developed subject knowledge, and a successful record of designing teaching, learning and assessment.
You will also be ready to lead modules, support quality enhancement and build productive networks with students, colleagues and external partners.
The successful applicant will be required to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check, and this will form part of the conditions of any offer of employment.
