Lecturer in Applied Computing - BIFCA (Flying Faculty)

We are seeking a Lecturer in Applied Computing to join our Department of Computing at Birmingham City University (BCU) and contribute to our partnership with the Birmingham Institute of Fashion and Creative Arts (BIFCA) in Wuhan, China.

This is a Flying Faculty role, with the successful candidate required to spend at least one semester in China each academic year as part of the BIFCA teaching team. All teaching will be in English.

The Birmingham Institute of Fashion and Creative Arts (BIFCA) is a successful partnership between Birmingham City University and Wuhan Textile University (WTU), providing students with an exciting cross-cultural learning experience and an innovative environment for teaching and learning. BIFCA delivers professionally focused, technology-enabled programmes designed to meet the changing needs of students, industry and the wider global economy. Students completing their programmes receive a dual award from BCU and WTU. Students have the flexibility to complete their studies entirely in China or combine their studies in China with a period of study at BCU in the UK.

As a member of the Flying Faculty, you will play an important role in delivering an engaging, high-quality learning experience for BIFCA students, while contributing to the continued development of this exciting international partnership.

Essential Requirements:
You will have teaching experience in higher education or have presented regularly to technical audiences in an industry setting, including preparing teaching material and planning technical course activities. You will also possess core technical development experience, as well as demonstrate experience/expertise in at least one of the following areas:

- Software Development
- Cloud Computing
- Front and Backend Web Development (HTML, CSS, JS, PHP, SQL)
- Game Development (Unity or Unreal)
- Virtual Production, Modelling and Animation
- Embedded Systems (Arduino, Pi, Linux)
