We are seeking to appoint a highly experienced and inspirational part-time dance teacher with a strong professional background in dance, to teach and lead the technical and creative curriculum on our Centre for Advanced Training (CAT).

The Trinity Laban CAT is part of a nationwide Department for Education scheme that offers high-quality training to young people with talent and potential in dance. At Trinity Laban our CAT students engage in technical training in Ballet, Contemporary and Hip-Hop, alongside developing their creative practise. Our students receive expert performance enhancement and physiotherapy support. They work with professional choreographers to create work for performance in our theatre and beyond. Students attend CAT all day on Saturdays and some evenings during the week. CAT is part of our Children and Young People's Dance programmes at Trinity Laban.

Working closely with the CAT Programme Manager, the Lead Teacher is responsible for planning and developing the CAT curriculum to support the technical and artistic development of our CAT students. The CAT curriculum includes weekly classes (technical and creative), intensives, projects, informal and professional level performances, Individual Training Plans, reports and assessments.

The Lead Teacher leads our CAT teaching team, supervising, supporting and monitoring individual teaching staff and guest artists to ensure high-quality teaching and learning and student experience. The Lead Teacher teaches CAT students on weekday evenings and Saturdays (in term time) as part of the CAT teaching team. They collaborate with our Performance Enhancement Tutor to integrate strength and conditioning and dance science into the curriculum, to support the wellbeing and development of our students.

The Lead Teacher serves as a Tutor, leading the planning and development of tutorials and the student support programme. This includes supporting students with their next steps, such as applications and audition preparation for Higher Education. In addition, they assist with the planning and delivery of CAT open days, auditions and outreach projects.

We are looking for a progressive dance teacher with a strong understanding of the dance industry to lead the ongoing development of our CAT curriculum, to prepare young dancers for careers in dance and beyond. We are looking for a student-centred inclusive teacher, committed to enabling our diverse cohort of young people to thrive, through support and challenge within a nurturing environment.

Flexible working is required including regular Saturday and evening work. Approximately 50% of the role is based in the studio teaching.

This position involves working with children and young people and vulnerable adults; therefore all appointments will be subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check. Trinity Laban is committed to Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and adults at risk and expects all employees, workers, and volunteers to share this commitment.

Trinity Laban welcomes applications from people of all backgrounds and experiences. We are particularly keen to encourage interest from people with disabilities, LGBTQIA+, Black, Asian, and other global majority backgrounds who are currently under-represented at Trinity Laban.
