The Institute will generate and translate evidence on how systems, services, communities, and organisations can better reach, engage, and support men and boys across the life course, with a focus on earlier engagement, prevention, health equity, and real world impact.
The Institute Manager will be responsible for leading the day to day operational delivery of the Institute, working closely with the Institute Director and wider departmental professional services. This will include coordinating delivery plans, budgets, governance meetings, funder reporting, recruitment activity, events, communications, partner engagement, risk management, and operational processes. The postholder will act with delegated authority from the Institute Director to drive timelines, monitor progress, resolve operational issues, and ensure that actions are followed through.
The role will be central to establishing the Institute as a high functioning, outward facing research and partnership platform. Regular on-campus presence will be required to support the Institute's day-to-day running, with flexibility for hybrid working where the needs of the role allow. The successful candidate will need to be proactive, highly organised, confident working with senior academic and external partners, and able to manage complexity, ambiguity, and competing priorities in a fast moving environment.
Skills, Experience & Qualifications needed:
- Level 6 qualification (including an undergraduate degree or equivalent non-UK qualification or equivalent professional experience).
- Experience of operational management in a complex research, higher education, charitable, public sector, health, or multi partner programme environment.
- Experience of financial management, budget monitoring, forecasting, and reporting across complex projects or programmes.
- Experience of planning, coordinating, and delivering complex projects or programmes with defined timelines, budgets, risks, and reporting requirements.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective operational systems, processes, records, governance arrangements, and reporting mechanisms.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate and work effectively with diverse internal and external stakeholders, including senior colleagues and partner organisations.
- Ability to work with delegated authority, drive timelines, monitor progress, resolve operational issues, and escalate risks appropriately.
- Experience of supporting governance, funder reporting, stakeholder updates, meetings, papers, action logs, and decision tracking.
- Ability to contribute to longer term planning, sustainability, and continuous improvement of a complex Institute, programme, or service.
- Experience of line managing, coordinating, or supporting administrative, professional services, or project staff.
The University strives to be diverse and inclusive. Applications are particularly encouraged from people who identify as Black, Asian or from a Minority Ethnic background. The University offers family friendly and flexible working arrangements, and is a Disability Confident employer.
