The University also aims to create opportunities for young people to gain new skills and explore a subject they love. As part of this mission, we host a weekly Saturday morning Art and Design club for young people aged 14-16yrs. The club provides a platform for young people to learn new skills, explore future careers, be inspired by the University's cutting-edge facilities and to socialise with their peers. The club is part of the UK-wide National Saturday Club Network.
The University is seeking a facilitator to co-lead the 2026 season of the Art and Design Saturday Club, utilising the resources and facilities available across the university. The club is based at our Knights Park Campus in Surbiton, just 40 minutes by train from Central London.
The tutors will be expected to design and deliver interesting and informative sessions for young people aged 14-16 years, covering a range of different creative subjects. The Club Tutors will also work with staff to organise and deliver trips away from the University to support Club Members to build their cultural capital.
The programme runs over 18 Saturdays, with each session lasting 2.5 hours from 10:30am to 1:00pm, plus additional time for set-up and take-down before and after each session. Sessions will take place weekly during term time, from 16th January 2027 to 10th July 2027.
The Tutor will need to be available for all the sessions. The Tutor will develop a positive working relationship with the young people as they support them through the 18-week programme.
Standard Kingston rates of pay apply and currently start at: £23.80 (including London Weighting, not including holiday pay) for both teaching and non-teaching hours. One lecturing hour includes preparation, delivery, follow up and related administration and attracts a multiplier of 2.25 increasing the hourly rate to £52.52. Non-teaching hours include tutorials, meetings, induction and invigilation.
This is a fractional appointment until 31 July 2027.
We welcome applications from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic backgrounds, LGBTQ+ communities and those with disabilities.
Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006.
