Bath
Permanent
Full-time
£25,529–£25,529 / year
Closes in 5 days
The University of Bath's Campus Services houses over 5,000 students throughout the academic year, and during the summer months external companies use our accommodation for conferences, summer camps, and away days. The department was created in August 2022 by combining all the facilities teams across the University into one department to support our University strategy, in which strong campus services are essential to underpin excellence in education, research, and the experience of students, staff, visitors, and commercial customers alike. With over 400 staff, Campus Services consists of a diverse range of teams, including Student Living, Hospitality, Retail, Cleaning and Portering, Security, Postal Services, and Landscaping.
As a Domestic Assistant, you'll have a key role in helping students transition from living at home to fully independent living and ensuring all our accommodation users have the best possible experience when staying with us.
This is a full-time opportunity: 36.5 hours per week, with typical shifts including 9:00am–5:20pm Monday to Thursday and 9:00am–5:10pm on Friday.
Responsibilities include:
- Cleaning accommodation areas
- Reporting maintenance issues
- Ensuring health and safety guidance is followed
- Acting as the face of the department by engaging with students and visitors
As cleaning duties are required in certain areas at weekends, there is an expectation that successful candidates will work weekends on a rota basis. Weekend working is mainly required during the summer peak period. These posts operate on a 5 days out of 7 rota.
About you:
You should enjoy striving for high standards of customer service, love working as a team, and be personable with a friendly approach. Previous cleaning experience or knowledge of working in a hotel or student accommodation is beneficial, but not essential.
What we can offer you:

- Free counselling services through Health Assured
- Cycle to work scheme
- Electric vehicle salary sacrifice scheme
- Staff discount at Team Bath gym
- Staff discounts on postgraduate tuition fees

- Relocation allowance
The University is committed to creating a health-supporting working environment and offers staff support groups and networks, a network of Staff Wellbeing Champions, and a suite of tools, resources and frameworks to enable staff to thrive.
