Based within the School of Health, Social Work and Sport, the Community Collaborator will be the main link between the Truth Talks! research project and communities in Whitehaven, Preston and Burnley. The role will focus on building trusted relationships with community members and organisations, supporting community engagement and co-production, coordinating activities and events, gathering community feedback and supporting project evaluation and delivery.

The post will be based primarily at the Westlakes Campus, with regular travel to Preston and Burnley and significant time spent working directly within communities.

You will have experience of working in low-income community settings, with third-sector organisations and in partnership with a range of people and organisations. You will understand the communities of Whitehaven, Preston and/or Burnley and be confident building positive, trusting relationships with community members and partners.

You will be an excellent communicator and listener, with strong relational skills and the ability to create inclusive environments where people feel respected and able to participate. You will be able to work independently, use your initiative, solve problems and work collaboratively as part of a wider team. Good IT skills, including Word and Excel, are also essential. You will have an undergraduate degree or equivalent experiential learning.
