Applications are invited for the post of Campus Watch Safety Officer within the Security Team, Estates Department at Royal Holloway, University of London.
This is a part-time, permanent role working an average of 25.5 hours per week on a shift pattern basis: 4 shifts on, 4 shifts off. The role is predominantly nights but will include some day shifts as and when required. Night shift timings are a combination of 9.30pm–7am and 10pm–4am, varying on alternate days over 4 nights. The Campus Watch Safety Officer shift pattern covers the core hours of 9.30pm–7am, 365 days a year.
Duties within the role include maintaining the provision of a safe environment for residential students and visitors to the University. Responsibilities include responding to incidents and welfare concerns, working closely with other departments to provide pastoral care support to students, and protecting the University's property and assets. You may also be required to support the security team during holidays, training, absenteeism, and University events.
Candidates must have excellent customer service skills and a clean driving licence, as team members are required to drive University vehicles when necessary. A good appreciation of student issues within the Higher Education sector is desirable. Knowledge of fire safety and first aid is desirable, but full training will be provided, as will a work uniform. Training on appointment may take place during the daytime. This role is subject to a DBS check.
