This is an exciting opportunity to join a thriving university and enhance its Estates & Facilities Management Team (EFM).

As part of the EFM Team you will be supporting a community of over 18,000 students and 2,300 staff based on campuses in Brighton.

The Campus Security Team is committed to building a diverse team of professionals whose role it is to create a safe and secure environment for students, staff and visitors, a place where everyone feels safe and welcome.

In the role of Campus Security Officer, you will be part of a wider team that provides a security service across multiple campuses 24-hours a day, 365-days a year to meet the needs of a modern University community. We provide a friendly and high visibility presence across the estate to help keep all our community and assets safe and secure. We regularly contribute at events to promote our team, encourage personal safety and to create an environment where everyone feels safe.

The responsibilities of the role will include working in the security control room and monitoring the CCTV network, providing a visible presence and a mobile response across all campuses. You will use proactive and responsive security methods to ensure the delivery of a comprehensive service, which goes beyond the traditional security standards and focuses on customer service.

In order to succeed in this role, you will have:

- Excellent communication skills and be a problem solver who is professionally curious and has the ability to engage with a diverse range of students, staff and stakeholders to grow a culture of safety and wellbeing
- A professional resilience and a desire to deliver an excellent service in challenging and often complex circumstances and environments
- The ability to be a team player who embraces diversity and inclusivity, a person who will be willing to go the extra mile to make a difference and help someone in need of support
- Security experience or qualifications is preferred but not essential; the University will support you with completing SIA (Security Industry Authority) training

In return we offer excellent benefits including a local government pension scheme (LGPS), generous holiday entitlement and personal development as well as sports facilities and activities. This role also attracts a 15% Shift Allowance.

We particularly encourage applicants from Minority Ethnic backgrounds. The university is underrepresented by these groups for this position.

Please note this vacancy is open to internal applicants only.
